Dr. Sabrina Paterniti
Dr. Sabrina Paterniti is the President of the Medical Staff of The Royal.
She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Trieste (Italy) and completed her Residency in Psychiatry at the University of Florence (Italy). She then earned a PhD in “Epidémiologie, économie de la santé et prevention” (Epidemiology, health economics and prevention) at the University of Paris XI and worked for two years as epidemiologist at the “Institut de Veille Sanitaire”, France.
Dr. Paterniti has worked at The Royal since 2006 as psychiatrist, providing clinical care to patients with highly complex and difficult-to-treat mood and anxiety disorder. She also works at the Northern Ontario Francophone Psychiatric Program, providing specialized care to communities of North-East Ontario. She has conducted published research in the areas of anxiety and cardiovascular risk, risk factors of course of depression, mindfulness cognitive therapy for depression and more recently has collaborated in an international, multicentric study on the utility and reliability of ICD-11, organized by the WHO.
She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa.
