Catherine Coulter
Catherine Coulter (she/her/hers) is the head of the Ottawa office employment law team and has over 30 years of experience in employment law and litigation. Catherine represents and advises employers in a wide variety of sectors and works with them to limit liability and ensure regulatory and legal compliance. Among other things, she advises on day-to-day human resources issues, contractual drafting, negotiating the start and end of employment relationships, workplace disability and accommodation, executive compensation, employment issues in business transactions and reorganizations, and employment disputes. Catherine also provides Inclusion & Diversity training.
Catherine regularly speaks at seminars/webinars, and has spearheaded many of Dentons’ national employment group publications and weekly webinars. She is the Dentons Canada lead for the global employment group, and the Ottawa office Pro-Bono Committee Lead and Inclusion Council Lead. Catherine is annually recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and her pro-bono work in 2020-2021 for UN Women resulted in Dentons winning Pro Bono Initiative of the Year at the 2021 Canada Law Awards.
In addition to her current work with the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group for mental health and her prior work as a Board member and Board Chair of Elmwood School, she is a volunteer with Ottawa Centre Refugee Action.
