Glenn Brimacombe
Trained as a health economist, Glenn has spent over 30 years working in the health sector in a number of senior leadership positions. For 17 years, he was chief executive officer of the Canadian Psychiatric Association (CPA) and the Association of Canadian Academic Healthcare Organizations (ACAHO).
Glenn has worked for the Canadian Medical Association, Health Canada, the Conference Board of Canada and the Ontario Medical Association. Most recently, he was Vice-President, Strategic Partnerships and Priorities at the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction, and is currently Director, Policy and Public Affairs at the Canadian Psychological Association.
Throughout his career, Glenn’s focus has been on a range of strategic policy issues related to the organization, management, financing and delivery of health care, as well as the importance of research, innovation and commercialization.
Glenn is currently a board member of the Community Addictions Peer Support Association (CAPSA) and is Chair of the Public Affairs Committee for the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH). He is a past board member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a founding board member of the Canadian Health Leadership Network (CHLNet). He has also been chair of the Organizations for Health Action (HEAL) and the Science Media Centre of Canada.
Glenn has an Honour’s (1986) and Master’s Degree (1988) in Economics from the University of Ottawa. In his spare time, Glenn enjoys time with his family, keeping active through sport and playing music in a local band.
