Event Overview

This 2-half day virtual workshop will offer an understanding of the development of Adult Attachment, the Categories of Adult Attachment and how the therapist can determine the Adult Attachment Categories from both behaviour in relationships and from a formal assessment.  A model of Attachment Focused Therapy will be presented with practical interventions based on the Category of Attachment of the client.

Learning Objectives

1. To understand how Adult Attachment develops from Child Attachment
2. To develop an understanding of both Secure and Insecure Adult Attachments
3. Determining the adult attachment from behavior and self-perception and the adult attachment interview
4. To develop an awareness of the goals of Attachment Focused Adult Therapy
5. To develop some understanding of the phases of treatment
6. To develop some strategies for developing secure attachment
7. To continue to learn the phases of treatment
8. To be aware of the treatment challenges of each attachment category
9. Understanding the role of the therapist

Target Audience

This workshop is appropriate for teachers, frontline workers and all health care professionals which includes social workers, nurses, therapists, physicians, psychologists, and students in related disciplines.
