On June 10, 2019, the 29th annual The Open golf tournament set a new fundraising record with $268,000 raised in support of mental health care and research at The Royal.
For the 13th year in a row, we were thrilled to have Canadian Tire as the presenting sponsor, and welcome 23 new sponsors, bringing our total to 72. Also new this year was our online auction. We want to thank Deslaurier Custom Cabinets for sponsoring this innovative fundraising tool.
We were fortunate that the rain held off and everyone enjoyed a great day at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. This year's special highlights include:
- TSN 1200 live on location and interviewing some Open guests,
- Ottawa Business Journal (OBJ) coverage,
- and an intimate conversation between PGA Tour winner, Ian Leggatt and CTV Ottawa News at Noon anchor, Michael O'Byrne.
The success of this tournament could not have been possible without a dedicated golf committee and leadership from chairs, Gord Cudney and Brian Murray. As Gord steps down as the golf committee chair, we want to thank him for his incredible guidance and commitment in creating and growing this signature event.
