Ottawa, ON., July 30, 2020 – Dr. Naista Zhand, a clinician scientist at The Royal’s Institute of Mental Health Research, has been awarded the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine Junior Clinical Research Chair in Schizophrenia.
Dr. Zhand will develop a clinical research program within the Schizophrenia Program at The Royal focused on cognition and treatments. She will explore the relationship between an individual’s cognitive profile and outcomes of their treatment. She will also look at the efficacy and potential of various treatments for schizophrenia.
The Royal’s Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program provides specialized services to adults (18 to 64) living with complex mental illnesses that are beyond the scope of a family physician or local hospital. Research activities help increase understanding of the nature of schizophrenia and lead to better help for patients.
The Junior Clinical Research Chair is funded in partnership between The Royal and the University of Ottawa.
