George Weber set to conclude ten years of exceptional leadership at The Royal

The Royal begins search for next president and CEO

George Weber, president and CEO of The Royal, has asked the Board of Trustees to commence the selection process for his successor.

George will remain as president and CEO of The Royal until a successful candidate has been selected and fully transitioned into the role. A new president and CEO expected to start at some point in 2018.

“George has been and continues to be an exceptional leader for The Royal. His leadership spans more than a decade at The Royal, first joining as interim president to redress a hospital in financial difficulty and from there building a vibrant organizational culture focused on quality and putting patients and families at the centre of their own care. His replacement will have large shoes to fill.” - Scott McLean, Chair of The Royal’s Board of Trustees.

“I have held CEO roles for more than three decades but my time as president and CEO of The Royal is one of the most gratifying roles I have enjoyed. That is in no small part because of the excellent staff who share my passion for mental health and are truly dedicated to helping our clients recover.” - George Weber, President and CEO of The Royal.

George will continue his directorships on various national and international boards as well as his long-standing involvement with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. George has recently been elected Chair of the highest permanent oversight body (the Standing Commission) of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent – he is the first Canadian ever to hold that position.
