The Royal proudly signs Dimensions Charter crystallizing commitment to transformational change

Every day, we are listening to, learning from and growing alongside our colleagues to establish the necessary governance and processes to foster a culture that is inclusive, diverse, and equitable. This is an essential part of our strategy in that focuses on our team members and on building a world-class employment experience. And, as we have initiated this journey together, we are thrilled to announce today that we have signed the Dimensions Charter, on behalf of The Royal and the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research at The Royal. This endorsement of the Charter crystallizes our commitment to fostering transformational change within our community by identifying and alleviating barriers to equity, diversity and inclusion in our workplace.

The Dimensions program was designed by the Government of Canada to address obstacles faced by, but not limited to, women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minority/racialized groups, and members of LGBTQ2+ communities in academic environments. The goal of the Dimensions program is to foster excellence, innovation and creativity across disciplines in Canada, through greater equity, diversity and inclusion.

This is an exciting step forward in our efforts, and we are grateful for the work done by our EDI Committee since its inception in 2021.  The EDI Committee passionately supported our participation in the Dimensions program. We appreciate the committee’s leadership and their efforts in guiding us along this very important journey.

Sincerely,
