The Royal has once again been ranked as one of Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals.  The list is published annually by Research Infosource, a leading research, consulting, and publishing firm, specializing in the areas of policy, research, business intelligence and analysis on science, technology, innovation, and the Canadian R&D ecosystem.

Ranked 33 on this year’s list, The Royal is ushering the next chapter in ground-breaking mental health research, focusing on research that is closely integrated with clinical care and driven by the needs and experiences of clients and families.

“The future of research at The Royal is about research-informed care and vice-versa,” says Dr. Florence Dzierszinski, president and CEO of University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research at The Royal. “Our inter-professional teams composed of clients and families, clinicians, program leaders and scientists are designing studies that are clinically impactful and provide access to care through research.”

The Royal’s research includes programs focused on AI driven diagnostics for mental health, advancing mental health care through brain imaging, neuromodulation as an alternative to antidepressant medications, and the biological aspects of suicide risk.
