One month after opening its doors to full operations, The Royal's Minto Greenberg Urgent Care Clinic is already making a meaningful difference for people in our community, while bringing teams across our organization together in new and powerful ways.
In the first four weeks since opening:
- 205 individual patients received care, including 175 walk-in patients.
- The clinic delivered 716 patient visits, with many patients receiving follow-up care or being connected to other programs and services across The Royal.
- 50% of patients assessed were identified as being at moderate or high risk of suicide, highlighting the clinic's role in supporting those with urgent mental health needs.
These numbers reflect more than a busy clinic. They represent people who needed help and were able to access timely assessment, support and connection to the right care, at the right time.

A new way of working together
While the clinic was created to improve access to urgent mental health care, it is also transforming how we work together across The Royal.
Every day, staff from Urgent Care, Adult General Psychiatry, Forensics, Substance Use and Current Disorders, Patient Flow and more are working side-by-side with our community partners to help connect patients to the follow-up support they need. This collaboration is creating smoother pathways to care, stronger relationships between teams and better experiences for patients.
"The collaboration, leadership and support I have witnessed remind me of what can be achieved when people work together with shared purpose, mutual respect and unwavering commitment to patient care,” said Rich Robins, Social Worker in the Outpatient Forensic Program.
Rich's reflections capture what many teams have experienced during the urgent care clinic's first month: partnerships are growing stronger and staff across The Royal are finding new ways to help patients access the care they need.

What's next
As the clinic reaches this important milestone, there is much to celebrate and still more to come. The team continues to learn, adapt and refine processes as demand grows, always with a focus on providing compassionate, timely care to those who need it most.
The successful launch and first month of service at the Minto Greenberg Urgent Care Clinic reflects the dedication, expertise and teamwork of staff across The Royal. Every assessment, referral, admission and connection to care has been made possible through their collective efforts. Together, they are improving access to care and helping more people in crisis receive the support they need.
