Services remain open despite global CrowdStrike outage

All services at The Royal are open. While we are among the many organizations impacted by the global CrowdStrike outage, we are able to provide care using workarounds where required.  Some virtual appointments were impacted by the outage and those patients have been contacted with alternate arrangements.

Thank you to our incredible staff whose skills and professionalism has shone during this time. Our clinical teams were able to implement workarounds and downtime procedures seamlessly and our IT team has been ‘all hands on deck’ providing incredible support and working with our service providers to minimize any impact on our services. This has meant that all of our patients’ needs continue to be met during this time. Thank you, team!

As background, CrowdStrike is a widely-used anti-virus software. It reported a defect today with its recent software update that impacted networks globally. The issue was not security related — it was an isolated software defect, and they have since deployed a fix.
